ISLAMABAD – The Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings bySubject has long been our primary yardstick for comparing universities.Considering the importance of these institutions in contributing to theliteracy and economy of nations, it’s no wonder that academics and laymenalike await these rankings.
Like every other year, 2019 features university rankings for a grand totalof 48 academic subjects. Pakistani institutes have also gained a fairamount of representation in this list, with some old names gaining a boostover last year, and some new ones making an entry.
National University of Science and Technology (NUST) has once again beenfeatured in the list as the top Pakistani university in the domain ofEngineering and Technology, thanks in large part to its internationallyacclaimed foundation of research and academic development.
It has also featured prominently in the four disciplines of Electrical andElectronic Engineering, Computer Science and Information Systems,Mechanical, Aeronautical and Manufacturing Engineering, and Physics andAstronomy. Furthermore, for the first time in its history, it has also beenranked by QS in the twin disciplines of Business and Management andMathematics, according to the university’s press release.link
