TAHRAN – Some states have made habits of suggesting baseless accusations tocover up their own disastrous policies, Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesmansaid Saturday in a reference to foreign minister of United Arab Emirates.
UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan at the46th session of the Foreign Ministers’ Conference of the Organization ofIslamic Cooperation (OIC) accused Iran of spreading chaos and sectarianismacross the Middle East.
‘The rationale behind the OIC was to create unity and convergence amongmember states, and abusing the meetings of the organization for puttingforth baseless, provocative issues against other members is wrong anddamages the interaction and trust among the members, and is contradictoryto its goals and cause,’ said Bahram Qasemi.
The member states should take steps toward strengthening unity andsolidarity in the Muslim world instead of abusing the opportunity topromote the goals and dictated policies of states outside the Muslim world,he added.
‘Some states, unfortunately, have made a habit of repeating such claims tocover up the damages they have inflicted on the Muslim world,’ Qasemi said.
Iran’s sovereignty over the three disputed Persian Gulf islands isdefinite, and suggesting such claims would make no change in the legalstatus of the islands, he said.
Rejecting another accusation that Iran is meddling in the internal affairsof other countries, the spokesman advised the Emirati foreign minister topay heed to the dire situation in Yemen and the humanitarian catastrophethat is created in the country by the military intervention of UAE and someother countries.
The 46th session of the OIC’s Council of Foreign Ministers was held in AbuDhabi on Friday.
