NEW DELHI – Wing Commander Abhinandan who became the face of the tensemilitary confrontation between India and Pakistan, conveyed to the IAFbrass that he wants to return to the cockpit as soon as possible, officialssaid Sunday.
For the last two days, the Indian Air Force (IAF) pilot has been undergoingmedical treatment at a military hospital here.
Wing Commander Abhinandan Barthaman underwent an MRI scan today and thedoctors didn’t find any ‘bugs’.
The scan showed that he had an injury in his lower spine, which mostprobably occurred during his ejection from the MiG-21 during the aerialengagement with an F-16, reported news agency ANI.
A rib was also injured during the assault by Pakistani locals when helanded on the ground. He will undergo more checkups and treatment at theResearch and Referral Hospital in Delhi Cantonment.
Varthaman told senior IAF commanders and doctors treating him that he wantsto start flying at the earliest, the officials told PTI.
