*TEHRAN – Deputy Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces BrigadierGeneral Massoud Jazayeri said the Islamic Republic’s prerequisite for talkson its missile program is for the US and certain European states to destroytheir long-range missiles and nuclear weapons.*

In remarks released on Saturday, Brigadier General Jazayeri denouncedrecent anti-Tehran remarks by some US and European officials and said,“What Americans say out of desperation about putting restrictions on Iran’smissile power is their unattainable dream.”

Such remarks against the Islamic Republic have their roots in Washington’sfailures and defats in the region, the commander added.

If the development of Iran’s defense power had been subjected to politicalnegotiations, the country would not have been able to put the US in such aposition of weakness, he stressed.

“The precondition for talks on Iran’s missiles is the destruction of the USand Europe’s nuclear weapons and long-range missiles,” Brigadier GeneralJazayeri went on to say.

Iranian officials have repeatedly underscored that the country will nothesitate to strengthen its military capabilities, including its missilepower and that Iran’s defense capabilities will be never subject tonegotiations.

Iran says its military might poses no threat to other countries and theIslamic Republic’s defense doctrine is entirely based on deterrence.
