NEW YORK – The UN report has agreed about Pakistan being victim ofcross-border terrorism emanating from Afghanistan.
The report of Monitoring Team of UNSC Committee overseeing sanctionsagainst Al-Qaeda and Da’esh expressed concern over the growth of terroristorganizations in Afghanistan and their impact on the region. The reportalso endorsed Pakistan’s stance about being victim of terrorism fromAfghanistan.
The Monitoring Team stated that Pakistan has consistently maintained thatcertain terrorist elements have been targeting Pakistan from their bases inAfghanistan. It also specifically mentioned that Tehreek-e-Taliban andJamaat-ul-Ahrar regularly attack Pakistani border posts from their bases inAfghanistan.
Diplomatic sources said that the fact that there is no negative referenceabout Pakistan in the report, is a testimony to the wide internationalrecognition of the effective actions taken by Pakistani security forcesagainst terrorism.
