India’s war hysteria: Delhi to buy precision guided bombs, missiles worth billions

NEW DELHI – Continuing with its hegemonic designs in the region, India willacquire precision-guided bombs from Russia and Barak missiles from Israel.

Indian Defence Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, has cleared two procurementdeals worth Rs 1.714 billion to acquire 240 precision-guided bombs fromRussia and 131 Barak missiles from Israel.

The “smart” KAB-1500 laser-guided bombs will be procured from M/s JSCRosoboron Exports (Russia) for Sukhoi-30MKI fighter jets.

The 131 additional Barak-I missiles to be acquired from M/s Rafael AdvancedDefence Systems Ltd (Israel) are meant to arm the earlier version of theanti-missile defence systems fitted on 14 Indian warships.

While the Barak-I system has an interception range of 9-km, thenext-generation Barak-8 system now being fitted on other frontline warshipslike the Kolkata-class destroyers has a kill range of 70-km.

India spends huge amount of its budget on defence despite being nuclearpower and continues to threaten other states by such artifices.

Based on quest of India for arms race, India must see that because of thesemoves other states are compelled for same actions.

It is spending huge amount of its defence budget without thinking what kindof bloodshed it is doing in Kashmir and how it is enforcing other states inSouth Asia for arms race.
