LAHORE: (APP) Rice growers have been advised to take timely measures to protect their crop from insects attack.
A spokesman of the Punjab Agriculture department said on Thursday, that stem worm and leaffolder are among those insects which severely harm the crop.
Stem worm usually attacks on Basmati varieties whereas leaffolder on IRRI and Basmati varieties, he added.
He said that comprehensive strategy should be adopted to get rid of these insects
Weekly pest scouting of rice crop should be carried out and agriculture experts' recommended poisons should be used to kill the insects, he added.
