ISLAMABAD: National Assembly Deputy Speaker Qasim Khan Suri Monday said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government would hold across the board accountability of the corrupt elements.

The PTI had already set a precedent in that regard as it had expelled some 20 members of the last Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, he said talking to a news channel.
Suri said the present government was strengthening all the national institutions to yield desired results. All institutions would be free from political influence and decisions would be made on merit, he added.

He said the rule of law was imperative for the development and progress of the country.
To a question, the NA deputy speaker said Pakistan was an atomic power and all the political parties were on same page regarding the Indian Army chief's threats. It was evident from the condemnation of firing by the Indian army on the helicopter of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister by the entire nation, he added.

He said Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi had raised all issues at the United Nations General Assembly (USGA).
To another question, he said former finance minister Ishaq Dar should present himself before the court regarding his cases.
