California: The instant messaging app WhatsApp, owned by Meta, has introduced a new feature in which users can now pin messages in group chats.
WhatsApp beta users can now pin messages in the upper section of group chats. Users who have the latest beta version can do this for up to 30 days. After installing the latest app update, a new "Pin" action can be observed in the message options.
This option allows users to pin messages in the upper section of their chats, making it easier for them to highlight important or frequently referenced messages. The "Pin" message option is distinct from other options because it gives users complete control over how long a message remains prominently visible in their chats.
Users can choose from three different durations: 24 hours, 7 days, and 30 days. It's worth noting that at any time before the selected period expires, users can unpin a pinned message.
According to WhatsApp's blog, the "Pin" feature is currently available for beta testers who have installed the latest WhatsApp beta version for iOS, and it will be rolled out to more users in the coming days.
