ISLAMABAD: Minister for Postal Services Moulana Ameer Zaman on Wednesdayapprised the Senate that Pakistan Post Office Department suffered Rs 16.795 billion loss during the last two years.
Responding to a question during a Question Hour, the Ministersaid that the Pakistan Post Office suffered Rs.7.488 billion and Rs.9.306billion losses during fiscal year 2015-16 and 2016-17 respectively.
He said to foster further development and diversification of postal services aswell as to cater the varied needs of the customers, specially trade andcommerce, Pakistan Post was offering a full range of Traditional and ExpressPostal Services which carried all those features which were offered by theprivate sector operators including competitive rates.
The minister said Pakistan Post took various measures to improve working and efficiency ofthe department.
These measures included introduction of UMS-Cash on deliveryservice, electronic money order service, enhancing maximum limit of urgent moneyorders, expansion of express post track and trace system, motorization ofpostmen beats and same day delivery service at Lahore as pilot project.
Moulana Ameer Zaman said Mobile Money Transfer Solution, Pakistan Post Logistic Companyand Re-branding of Pakistan Post projects were also initiated for successfulimplementation of Reform agenda approved by the Prime Minister.
