The United States and Taliban representatives have resumed the sixth round of peace talks in Qatar to end a 17-year war in Afghanistan.

In a tweet, a spokesman of Taliban Zabihullah Mujahid said Afghan representatives are not allowed to attend US-Taliban talks.

In this round, U.S. special envoy for peace in Afghanistan Zalmay Khalilzad and his delegation are expected to focus on a declaration of a ceasefire as a first step to end the fighting.

Meanwhile, Khalilzad in a tweet said that Pakistan supports efforts to accelerate intra-Afghan dialogue and negotiations, and is committed to helping reduce violence in Afghanistan.

He said everyone has recognized the benefit peace will bring to the region.
