MUZAFFARABAD: The Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK) government has launched a project to provide free medication to masses at emergencies of all 10 district headquarters' hospitals for which special emergency units have been established.
Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan inaugurated the project at Abbas Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS) here Tuesday under which all treatment including medications at emergency unit will be provided free of cost at 10 government run hospitals.
Speaking on the occasion, Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider said that provision of free health services to masses was his election manifesto and he was successful in first phase to provide free of cost medical at emergency unit.
He said the provision of health and education facilities were the primary responsibility of the government but unfortunately were not being provided to masses in past however, his government had taken the first step by launching this facility.
He said his government was committed to improve the quality of services to masses, adding his government would bring drastic changes in the system for betterment of governance by ensuring merit in all spheres of life.
Earlire, Director General Health Dr. Muhammad Bashir Chaudhry told the media that under the project, 950 new posts of doctors, nurses and paramedical staff have been created to establish special emergency units at all 10 district headquarters' hospitals to provide better services.
He said all medicines from syringe to life saving drugs which were earlier being purchased by the patients would be provided free of cast at emergency units at all these hospitals. (APP)
