COAS offers counter terrorism cooperation to Tajikistan President

TAJIKISTAN: COAS General Raheel Sharif met with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and offered full cooperation in capacity building of Tajikistan forces to counter terrorism.

 

Both leaders discussed the regional situation and common challenges of fighting against terrorism.

 

They also discussed bilateral relationships and urged to boost defence cooperation between both countries.

 

Rahmon applauded Pakistan’s role in counter terrorism and Pak Army’s achievements in operation Zarb-e-Azb.

 

Rahmon claimed that the operation against terrorism conducted by Pakistani forces is a role model for the rest of the world.

 

COAS was on a one day official visit to Tajikistan where he also met with Tajik Defence Minister and Chief of General Staff.

 

He also visited the Military Institute and Training Center of Tajikistan.

 

Pakistan and Tajikistan had agreed to strengthen their ties and cooperation in defence, energy and trade.

 

Nawaz Sharif and Rahmon also signed seven agreements relating to cooperation in energy, industrial sectors, extradition, and establishment of Joint Business Council, collaboration in science and technology and geology.
