Pakistani Rupee lost value against the US dollar in the interbank market

KARACHI – The exchange rate of US Dollar increased by 23 paisa in the interbank on Wednesday against Pakistani rupee. The greenback closed at Rs154.77 on third business day of the week compared to previous closing of 154.54.
Since start of June, dollar has risen by 37 paisa. However, the greenback has lost 13.66 rupees or 8.45 percent of its value from its peak of 168.43 in August 2020.
Meanwhile, the price of euro depreciated by 31 paisa and closed at Rs188.64 against the last working day’s trading of Rs188.95, the State Bank of Pakistan reported.
The Japanese Yen closed at Rs1.41, whereas a decrease of 42 paisa was witnessed in the exchange rate of British Pound, which was traded at Rs218.73 as compared to its last closing of Rs219.15.
The exchange rates of Emirates Dirham and Saudi Riyal increased by about 7 paisa each to close at Rs42.14 and Rs41.27 respectively.
