Why Turkish Foreign Minister is visiting Pakistan?

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Turkey enjoy cordial and brotherly relations with each other since the times of the Ottomon Empire in the Turkey.

Pakistan and Turkey have stood with each other through thick and thin and the friendship is time tested between the two states.

In recent days Turkey has witnessed the worst turmoil as a section of military tried to take over the reins of government in Ankara but failed miserably.

Since then Turkey has asked Pakistan and other allied states to help Turkey in eliminating the menace of Gulen ideology that Turkey blames to be behind the failed military coup.

In this regard Turkish dignitaries are visiting the world capitals to muster the support for the Erdogan government and take into confidence the allies over the steps taken by the Turkish government in post coup scenario.

Foreign Minister of Turkey, Mevlut Cavusoglu, reached Islamabad on Monday on a one-day official visit to Pakistan.

The Turkish Foreign Minister is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Advisor to PM on Foreign Affairs, Sartaj Aziz and other officials during his visit.

Answering a question he said that Turkey appreciates efforts of the Pakistani authorities in dealing with terrorism and added that we have exemplary cooperation with Pakistan in countering terrorism.

Turkey Foreign Minister is expected to ask Pakistan to close the chain of Pak-Turk schools in Pakistan which is estimated to have over 200 branches and is run by the Gulen administration.
