ISLAMABAD: In a massive leap for Pakistan’s aerial warfare capability,Turkey will soon hand over the advanced HAVA SOJ stand-off jammer aircraftto the Pakistan Air Force, drastically boosting its ability to blind andcripple enemy radar and communication systems in any future conflict withIndia.
The HAVA SOJ, built on the Bombardier Global 6000 platform and packed withTurkish ASELSAN’s ultra-high-power electronic attack suite, can detect,locate and jam multiple ground and airborne radars from over 300 kilometresaway while staying well outside enemy air-defence reach. Defence sourcesconfirm the first aircraft is already in final testing phase and deliveryis expected within weeks.
This acquisition directly addresses Pakistan’s urgent need for a dedicatedlong-range electronic warfare platform that can suppress India’sRussian-made S-400 and indigenous Akash-NG surface-to-air missile systemsas well as the Rafale’s Spectra EW suite during deep-strike missions.Unlike India’s modified Gulfstream-based EW jets that operate closer to theborder and remain vulnerable to long-range missiles, the HAVA SOJ offerstrue stand-off capability, giving PAF fighters like JF-17 Block III andfuture J-31 stealth jets a massive survivability edge.
Currently, Pakistan relies on converted Falcon 20 aircraft fitted witholder French and indigenous jammers and the limited EW pods carried bycombat jets. These systems lack the raw power and range of a dedicatedplatform. The incoming HAVA SOJ will multiply PAF’s electronic attackstrength several times over, enabling it to create wide “no-radar zones”along the entire eastern border and protect entire strike packages fromdetection.

Military analysts say the timing is critical. With India aggressivelyexpanding its integrated air defence network and adding more S-400regiments, Pakistan needed an immediate asymmetric answer. The HAVA SOJdelivers exactly that: a force multiplier that tilts electronic warfaredominance firmly towards Islamabad without matching India jet-for-jet.
