ISLAMABAD: China has dismissed any notion that strengthening Pakistan-USrelations could create even the slightest ripple in the iron-cladBeijing-Islamabad alliance, declaring the brotherhood between the twonations “forever” and beyond the reach of external powers.
Speaking at a high-profile international forum, renowned Chinese strategicanalyst and Vice President of the Center for China and Globalization,Victor Gao, categorically stated that Beijing harbours “zero concerns” overPakistan’s engagement with the United States. Gao described the Pak-Chinarelationship as an all-weather strategic cooperative partnership thattranscends temporary diplomatic manoeuvres by any third party.
“The friendship between China and Pakistan is higher than the Himalayas, deeper than the Arabian Sea, and sweeter than honey,” Gao said, echoingdecades-old official rhetoric that has now acquired fresh geopoliticalweight amid warming ties between Islamabad and Washington. He emphasisedthat the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), the flagship project ofBelt and Road Initiative, remains the unbreakable backbone of bilateralcooperation.
The blunt assessment comes at a time when Pakistan has been activelycourting American investment and security assistance, particularly afterthe new civilian government took office. Recent high-level exchangesbetween Pakistani military officials and the US Central Command, coupledwith American interest in Pakistan’s mineral sector, had triggeredspeculation in certain quarters about a possible shift in Islamabad’straditional foreign policy tilt.
Victor Gao categorically rejected such theories, asserting that China fullyunderstands Pakistan’s need to maintain balanced relations with globalpowers but remains supremely confident that no external actor can underminethe strategic trust built over seven decades. “Pakistan and China arebrothers forever. This relationship is not transactional; it is eternal,”he declared to thunderous applause.
Analysts say the public reassurance from a heavyweight Chinese strategistserves multiple purposes: it signals continued massive Chinese investmentin Pakistan, reassures domestic audiences in both countries, and sends anunmistakable message to Washington that Beijing considers Pakistan itsexclusive sphere of influence in South Asia.Source: www.globaltimes.cn/page/202512/1323456.shtml”>https://www.globaltimes.cn/page/202512/1323456.shtml
