Former Pakistani captain Shahid Afridi slams Babar Azam

Pakistan’s number one ODI ranking batsman and captain Babar Azam has facedcriticism from multiple former cricketers and fans across the country inthe ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 due to his performance.

The 29-year-old player scored 216 runs with the help of threehalf-centuries in seven innings, but his strike rate has been extremelylow. Recently, former Pakistan captain and cricketer Shahid Afridiexpressed concerns about Babar Azam’s abilities as a one-day opener in thecurrent playing eleven and criticized his failure to finish matches likeother star players.

Speaking on a private TV program, Afridi said that when Babar Azam is atthe crease, everyone expects him to contribute 50 or 60 runs to thescoreboard.
