Federal Minister for Science and Technology, Fawad Chaudhry has said thatfederal capital will be the first city to have environment-friendlyelectric transport by December this year.
After the signing ceremony of a strategic alliance agreement between govtand German company, in an interview to a private news channel, he said thatunder the new MoU, the German company will invest in three phases;installations of its manufacturing plants, bus operations and technologytransfer to Pakistan.
He said the introduction of electric vehicular technology will expeditework on the government’s policy to check environmentalpollution.
The Science Minister added after introducing an electric vehicle chargingstation in Islamabad, the govt had decided to install EV charging stationson motorways across the country in the next six months in the next sixmonths.
The Federal Minister added introduction of electric vehicles will help inflourishing an eco-friendly system and mitigate the effects of globalwarming.
He vowed government is giving special emphasis to the science andtechnology, education and future technologies to unleash the potential ofthe youth.
He further stated that the government was also making serious efforts toameliorate the energy sector of Pakistan.
