ISLAMABAD – Muhammad Aamir Zulfiqar Khan, from Police Serviceof Pakistan (PSP) has been appointed as new Inspector General policeIslamabad after former IG Jan Muhammad excused himself from performingduties.
IGP Jan Muhammad was transferred on October 27 after he allegedly refusedto take action on a complaint by Federal Minister Azam Swati’s sonregarding a fight with a family at their farmhouse.
Some of the key positions that he held by new IG during his career includedDIG (Operations) Punjab, DIG (CTD) Punjab, RPO Multan, CPO Multan, SSP(Special Branch) Lahore Region, SSP (Operations) Lahore, PSO to ChiefMinister Punjab and DPO Toba Tek Singh.
His professional competence can be gauged from the fact that he was thefirst ever ASP to receive President Police Medal (PPM) andQuaid-e-Azam Police Medal (QPM).
The Supreme Court earlier on the day withdrew an order for the suspensionof the transfer of Islamabad Inspector General of Police (IGP).
