IHC approves Imran Khan’s pre arrest bail on Sunday special session

ISLAMABAD – Islamabad High Court has approved ousted prime minister ImranKhan’s interim pre-arrest bail in a case pertaining to hurling threats atthe female judge in one of PTI’s anti-government rallies.

Judge Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani granted interim pre-arrest bail to defiantpolitician until October 7 against surety bonds of Rs10,000. PTI chief hasbeen directed to appear before the relevant court.

In his plea, the outspoken politician maintained that the case against himhas been registered on a ‘political basis’ and alleged that federal lawenforcers are acting as tool of the Sharif-led government.

Earlier in the day, the Islamabad High Court was opened on a weekendholiday and its staff arrived in the morning.

PTI chief approached IHC for pre-arrest bail after Senior Civil Judge RanaMujahid Rahim issued warrants, directing Margalla Police Station SHO toimplement the orders.

On Saturday, PTI workers and supporters flocked to Bani Gala, the residenceof Imran Khan, after his arrest warrants were issued.

Later, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah said Khan’s arrest warrant was aroutine matter and it was bailable, saying there was no question of thearrest.

Islamabad Police also cleared the air, revealing that the arrest warrantwas a legal process as the PTI chief failed to appear before the court.
