Islamabad: Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif claimed that his governmenthad reverse-engineered a US cruise missile. Pakistan’s renowned scientistDr Samar Mubarakmand says he does not agree with the statement.
The PML-N supremo while addressing party workers today through video linksaid that his government had developed country’s missile programme throughthis reverse-engineering.
He claimed that the US in 1998 launched missile strikes against al Qaeedabasses in Afghanistan when one of the missile landed undamaged inBalochistan and it was sued for reverse-engineering to develop Pakistan’sown missile.
On the other hand, Dr Samar Mubarakmand giving an interview to aninternational media outlet said that the claim about reverse-engineering ofAmerica’s Tomahawk missile is baseless.
