Indian EAM Jaishankar feels international pressure over Occupied Kashmir lockdown during key meetings in US

*Washington: Indian External Affairs Minister Jaishankar was frustrated asOccupied Kashmir issue was raised in majority of Indian meetings in UnitedStates on sidelines of UN General Assembly session. *

The External Affairs Minister said in half of his meetings on the sidelinesof the UN General Assembly session, the issue of recent developments inJammu and Kashmir popped up, NDTV has reported.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has said India”s stand has beenclear for decades and the two countries can discuss the issue bilaterally.

Mr Jaishankar arrived n Washington on Sunday night from New York afterattending the annual General Assembly session of the United Nations alongwith Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

On the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session, the two leaders heldbilateral meetings with dozens of world leaders and the Occupied Kashmirlockdown was raised in those meetings.

“India has been clear for 40 odd years that we would not acceptmediation… and that whatever has to be discussed has to be discussedbilaterally,” Mr Jaishankar told a group of Indian reporters on Wednesdaywhen asked about US President Donald Trump’s mediation remarks on Kashmir.

Donald Trump in the recent past has offered mediation between India andPakistan on the Kashmir issue.
