Finally Some Relief Afforded to Former PM Imran Khan in Jail

Sources have revealed that the PTI founder’s jail privileges have been reinstated, granting him access to books and newspapers once again. He was also permitted a one-hour phone call with his children the previous day.

During the conversation, Khan reportedly told prison officials that his children were welcome to visit him. However, he discovered that their National Identity Cards for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOPs) had expired. He also clarified that he had never asked his children to come to Pakistan to participate in political protests.

Earlier, Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan, had claimed that his sons — Suleiman Khan and Kasim Khan — would join the planned protest in August demanding their father’s release. Following this, reports surfaced suggesting that Khan had prohibited his sons, who live in the UK, from travelling to Pakistan or engaging in political activities. PTI, however, dismissed these claims, affirming that both Suleiman (28) and Kasim (26) were committed to visiting Pakistan to support their father.

Imran Khan, 71, has been incarcerated since August 2023, facing multiple charges ranging from corruption to terrorism, following his ouster through a no-confidence vote in April 2022.

Sources also stated that Khan disapproved of recent remarks by his sister Aleema regarding Mishal Yousafzai possibly becoming a senator. He reportedly termed the comments unnecessary and advised her to avoid political statements.
