LAHORE – Punjab government is expanding its well-equipped ‘Police Mobilevan’ project in more districts of South Punjab as part of‘Khidmat Markaz’initiativelink.The Police van facility would be in addition to that centers which wereearlier established and made functional in all the districts of Punjab.
The hi-tech mobile van was recently made available in Southern Punjabdistricts including Multan and Rahim Yar Khan. And now the ‘Police MobileKhidmat Markaz’ will begin services in Khanewal district. The core focus ofthis mobile van initiative is to provide various facilities at people’sdoorsteps, such as verification certificates, copies of FIRs, medicalcertificates, character certificates, general police verification, drivingpermits, and license renewal, etc.
This project would not only help in minimizing the distance to access butwill also introduce transparency, efficiency and accountability in Policerecords. It will also provide the department secured access to the PoliceStation Record Management System (PSRMS) through linked internet facilitiesin the mobile van.
Earlier this year in June, IGP Arif Nawaz Khan had claimed that mobilepolice vans are equipped with the centralized IT system by PunjabInformation Technology Board (PITB)linktodispatch them to the rural and remote areas to provide facilities atpeople’s doorstep.
According to reports, around 36 mobile police vans having computer systemwould be ready in time and reach the villages across all districts ofPunjab in addition to those Khidmat Marakaz which had already beenestablished in various districts of Punjab.
