*KARACHI: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) authorities are initiatinglarge-scale crackdowns against benami accounts and properties across thecountry.*
A high-powered authority has been constituted that was tasked to openthorough probe into benami accounts, whereas, FBR authorities have alsoestablished ‘Benami Zones’.
High-level officers of FBR were appointed in the zone to collect completedata of undisclosed properties for finalising a plan to conduct crackdowns.
According to FBR sources, the concerned officers will be authorised toforward cases to the newly-constituted authority which would hand it overthe federal government after compiling an investigation report.
Moreover, the board made postings and transfers of 11 senior officers inthe benami zones.
