LAHORE: Due to the recent rise in petroleum prices, train fares areexpected to increase by 2 to 15 per cent, sources informed on Sunday.
According to sources the Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed islikely to announce the increase soon.
Fares for AC sleeper trains will likely increase be 15 per cent, fares forAC business trains are expected to increase by 10 per cent and fares forthe economy class are expected to increase by two to five per cent.

According to Railways officials, more than 0.4 million liters of dieselfuel is used daily for train operations and with an increase of Rs4.5 perlitre, it will now cost an additional Rs2.25 million.
