*ISLAMABAD – Shah Mehmood Qureshi addressing the media over OIC summit andrecent geopolitical situation expressed reservations against Israel’sblatant disregard for Golan Heights, showing them a part of Israel ratherthan Syria.*
Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Shah Mehmood Qureshi slammed Israel’s effortsto take control of Golan heights which Qureshi stressed, were considered apart of Syria by the Pakistan government.
US President Donald Trump’s son-in-law and adviser Jared Kushner has givena new map of Israel, which included the occupied Syrian Golan Heights, toIsraeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Qureshi also opposed the shifting of American embassy from Tel Aviv toJerusalem.
In December 2017, U.S. President Donald Trump abruptly acknowledgedJerusalem as the capital of Israel and relocated his country’s embassy tothe city in May of 2018, a move that sparked waves of violence betweenIsraelis and Palestinians.
Highlighting the plight of oppressed Kashmiri’s, the FM said: “We havereceived detailed reports of atrocities occurring in the disputed land.”
“Situation in Kashmir has deteriorated with time and has worsened duringthe past few years,” Qureshi confessed.
Qureshi also said that the situation in Afghanistan also came underdiscussion at the OIC summit.
“Pakistan also directed the Organization of of Islamic Cooperation’s (OIC)attention towards the Palestine issue,” said Qureshi.
“For long lasting and prevalent peace in the Middle East, the Palestineissue needs to be resolved on priority basis,” Qureshi stressed.
