*ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has initiated a probeinto supplies of new and old tyres of aircraft belonging to the nationalflag-carrier Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).*
The intelligence agency commenced thorough investigation againstnon-recovery of tyres despite advance payments worth millions made by thePIA administration.
It is noteworthy to mention here that a foreign aero company was given anorder for the provision of new and old tyres for PIA planes.
However, the company has failed to comply with the order despite payment of$200,000 US dollars.
Moreover, the company’s owner Raja Masood also presented a permissionletter of the foreign company before the PIA management.
FIA issued notices to the owner of the foreign company which claimed itselfa distributor of a foreign company Gadair.
On January 7, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had initiated a probeinto alleged corruption in the (PIA) in the wake of the Supreme Court’sorder.
As per details, a 7-member investigation team of the FIA has startedprobing into alleged corruption in the national flag carrier, in the lightof 10 years’ audit report, compiled by the government’s auditors.
The seven-member committee comprises Assistant Directors, Inspectors andthe Sub-Inspectors, has been provided an office in the PIA, for the purposeof the probe.
