Pentagon Report reveals US Military killed over 120 civilians abroad

ISLAMABAD – A report released today by Pentagon says about 120 civilianswere killed and 65 others injured in the US military actions in Iraq,Syria, Afghanistan and Somalia last year.

The annual report, mandated by Congress, showed a significant drop fromnearly 800 civilians killed in 2017, in part because the pace of operationshad slowed against ISIS in Iraq and Syria.

During operations in Afghanistan in 2018, 76 civilians were killed, including 42 killed in Iraq and Syria, and two in Somalia.

The Pentagon assessed that no civilians were killed in Libya or Yemen, thereport said.

Contrary to the official report, Amnesty International and the monitoringgroup Airwars, in a report published late in April, said the U.S.-backedassault to drive Islamic State militants from the Syrian capital Raqqa in2017 killed more than 1,600 civilians.
