NEW DELHI – India has been hatching conspiracy to put Pakistan on FATFblacklist, it has been revealed.
India’s Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said on Thursday the government willrequest that Pakistan be downgraded by the Paris-based Financial ActionTask Force (FATF), a global body created to counter terrorism financing andmoney laundering.
“There is a meeting of FATF in mid-May,” Arun Jaitley told reporters. “Wewould want that the FATF for Pakistan should be downgraded.”
In March, Pakistan requested the body to remove India from the co-chair ofa body that is reviewing progress on implementation of an action plan.
Former finance minister Asad Umar asked the FATF President MarshallBillingslea to appoint any other member as co-chair of the Asia-Pacific’sJoint Group, in place of India, to ensure that the FATF review process isfair, unbiased and objective.
