Stage behind set for Nawaz Sharif’s further bail, treatment abroad

LAHORE – Former Prime Minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)Supremo Nawaz Sharif reached Sharif Medical City on Tuesday for furthercheck-ups.

Dr Adnan, the former premier’s personal physician, said it is premature tosay if Nawaz Sharif’s treatment is possible in six weeks or not. He furtherstated that it being discussed whether the PML-N supremo’s medical care ispossible in Pakistan.

He told that a medical board comprising senior professors has been formedto conduct further tests and treatment. Various medical tests of theerstwhile prime minister will be taken at the Sharif Medical City today.

It is worth mentioning here that the Supreme Court had granted bail toformer premier Nawaz Sharif for six weeks against a surety bond of Rs5million in a petition filed on medical grounds in Al-Azizia corruptionreference; however, with a restriction that he cannot leave the country.

The PML-N supreme leader was sentenced to seven years in prison and wasfined Rs1.5 billion and $25 million in the Al-Azizia corruption referenceby an accountability court on December 24, 2018.
