Federal cabinet formally approved creation of new Division in Pakistan government

ISLAMABAD – The Federal Cabinet has formally approved creation of a newdivision in the name of social protection and poverty alleviation.

This was announced by Information Minister Chaudhry Fawad Hussain during aNews briefing in Islamabad this afternoon.

He said the Federal Cabinet, which met in Islamabad with Prime MinisterImran Khan in the chair, also approved a budget of 57.3 billion rupees forKhassadar and other forces working in erstwhile FATA.

Chaudhry Fawad Hussain also made it clear that the government is not goingto change the name of Benazir Income Support Programme. He said FinancialAid is provided to poor people through BISP, Zakaat, and PakistanBait-ul-Maal, whereas under the New Social Welfare Programme Newinitiatives will be taken. He said Health Cards, Kafalat and affordablehousing scheme to be launched by the Prime Minister soon Ehsas facilitatepoor people of Pakistan.

The Minister said the Cabinet also gave approval to the decisions taken bythe Economic Coordination Council (ecc). He said the Prime Ministerdirected to prepare a complete road map regarding procurement of wheat,cotton, and rice to benefit the agriculture sector.

He said export of one million tons of wheat was approved by the Cabinet. Hesaid the Prime Minister also advised to evolve a comprehensive policy toset prices of vehicles. He said it was the PTI Government’s efforts due towhich for the first time sugarcane growers got Prices of their Crop intime.
