KARACHI: Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) and Pakistan Navy haveseized one of the largest smuggled consignment of drugs and liquor in theinternational sea.
Reports have surfaced of seizure of large quantity of liquor smuggled fromInternational sea routes.
According to a statement, the operation was carried out while conductingmaritime security operations in the Pakistani Exclusive Economic Zone(EEZ). “The successful seizure of liquor was an outcome of a coordinatedand complex operation involving persistent surveillance & patrolling in thearea.”

A total of 9392 liquor bottles and 45218 beer cans having market value ofapproximately 70 million rupees were seized in the current jointoperation. The seized liquor has been handed over to Pakistan Customs forfurther legal proceedings. It is pertinent to mention that Pakistan NavyShip ASLAT had also seized 5000 kg of Hashish on Feb 18, while operating atNorth Arabian Sea, which also valued in millions of dollars.
PMSA, being the law enforcement agency in the EEZ, maintains its vigilantpresence at sea with its ships and aircraft against possible illegalactivities, the statement says.
