As part of preparations for elections to the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa(KP) assemblies in the light of the Supreme Court (SC) verdict, theElection Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday sought from districtadministrations the lists of deputy returning officers (DROs) and assistantreturning officers (AROs).
Sources told 24News TV channel that the ECP also sent a letter to theprovincial election commissioners. It also decided to start training ofmaster trainers next week, they said, and added for that a list of 40master trainers had been prepared.
Senior election commission officials would train master trainers at the ECPsecretariat. Their training would be completed in three to four days,sources explained.
These trainers will then impart training to the returning officers (RO),DROs, and AROs.
Important ECP’s meeting today
Similarly, an important meeting of the ECP is due to take place today at2:00 PM.
Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja will chair the meeting.

Members of the ECP, secretary, will attend the meeting.
Sources told 24News that the election commission’s Law Wing would brief themeeting about the legal aspects of yesterday’s Supreme Court verdict onelections.
Similarly, they added, the meeting would also mull over again holdingconsultations with the president and the KP governor on the subject.
Likewise, consultations would be held over writing letters to the Ministryof Interior and the Ministry of Finance.
