*ISLAMABAD – South African team has suffered major setbacks ahead of theirencounter with Pakistan in the second T20I, after captain Faf du Plessisand wicketkeeper batsman Quniton de Kock were ruled out of the T20I series.*
The wicketkeeper batsman sustained a groin injury during the fifth ODIagainst Pakistan and will need a period of treatment and rehabilitation tomake a full recovery. “Quinton sustained an injury to his left groin whilefielding during the last ODI on Wednesday,” South Africa team manager DrMohammed Moosajee said, quoted *ESPNcricinfo*.
“He will be unable to take part in the T20I series against Pakistan and weare hopeful he will be fit for selection for the Test series against SriLanka starting in Durban on February 13,” he added.
Meanwhile, skipper Faf du Plessis announced at the end of the match that hewould rest for the remainder of the series.
Janneman Malan will make his T20I debut as he would replace de Kock, andwill be available for the final two matches. With the T20I series 1-0,Pakistan will take on Proteas in the second T20I on Sunday at Johannesburg.
