SRINAGAR – A report filed by the Ganderbal police and the deputycommissioner before the Human Rights Commission stated that Indian army wasnot cooperating in identification of soldiers involved in the abduction andbeating of four civilians in October 2018.According to Kashmir Media Service (KMS), the report stated that theresponse from the Commandant of army unit of Manasbal was still awaited.The police and the deputy commissioner Ganderbal’s reply came in responseto the petition filed by the Chairman of International Forum for Justiceand Human Rights (IFJHR), Muhammad Ahsan Untoo.The petitioner expressed serious concern over the non-cooperation of Indianarmy in identifying the soldiers that ruthlessly tortured the four innocentcivilians who had committed no fault and yet were left on road in injuredcondition.“The issue needs to be given a serious attention and the soldiers whomercilessly beat up four innocents must be booked as per the law,” he said.Meanwhile, Hurriyat leader and the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir PeoplesLeague (JKPL), Mukhtar Ahmed Waza has expressed concern over the plight ofKashmiri political detainees and questioned the silence of human rightsorganizations over the issue.Hurriyat leader and the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement,(JKSM), Zafar Akbar Butt, in a statement in Srinagar also denounced thefresh arrest spree against party activists and unnecessary harassment ofpeople all over in occupied Kashmir ahead of Indian Prime Minister’s visit.He said more than 100 party activists have been booked under false casesand their families asked to get bail from 1st Class Magistrate of theirlocal districts, which is highly condemnable.
