Pakistan has demanded Indian to grant it access to its soldiers wentmissing during 1965 and 1971 wars.
According to the sources, Pakistan has enlisted its demand along with thelist of prisoners it exchanges with India on the first day of every year.
Indian Charge d’Affaires in Islamabad has been informed of the Pakistanidemand, the diplomatic sources said, adding Pakistan has also soughtconsular access to 56 Pakistani civilian prisoners.
On Sunday, Pakistan and India had exchanged lists of nuclear installationsand facilities in their countries and as well as lists of prisoners in eachother’s custody in pursuance of agreements signed between the two countries.
The Foreign Office statement issued a statement in Islamabad stating: “TheAgreement on Prohibition of Attacks against Nuclear Installations andFacilities between Pakistan and India was signed on 31st December 1988 andratified on 27th January 1991. The Agreement, inter alia, provides thatboth countries shall inform each other of their nuclear installations andfacilities, falling within its definition, on 1st January of each calendaryear.
“Pursuant to the agreement, the list of nuclear installations andfacilities in Pakistan was officially handed over to a representative ofthe Indian High Commission in Islamabad at the Ministry of Foreign Affairstoday. Simultaneously, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs also handedover the list of India’s nuclear installations and facilities to arepresentative of the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi.”
The FO also stated that Pakistan and India exchanged the lists of prisonersin each other’s custody through diplomatic channels.
