Rs 300 billion smuggling scandal unearthed in Pakistan

Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar expressed concern and took note of smuggling activities related to petroleum products and Afghan transit trade. To address this issue, Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar called for a meeting at 3 PM today to discuss measures to curb smuggling.

According to sources, Pakistan is facing an annual loss of 300 billion rupees due to smuggling of Afghan transit trade and petroleum products. Most of the goods imported under transit trade are being sold within Pakistan, and the smuggling of petroleum products is causing financial losses to the treasury and oil marketing companies.

It is reported that the Prime Minister, while taking note of the matter, has instructed the relevant ministries to prepare actionable solutions and present them during the meeting.

The meeting has called upon officials from the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Petroleum, and the Federal Board of Revenue to participate in addressing this issue and finding effective solutions. This move indicates the government's commitment to combating smuggling and its adverse economic impact
