The Supreme Court has received information regarding the beneficiaries of the NAB amendments for the current year. As per the NAB report, a total of 12 references had been shifted away from NAB courts by the end of August this year. Notable figures like former president Asif Ali Zardari and former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi are among those who have benefited from these NAB amendments.
Furthermore, the NAB cases of individuals like Khursheed Anwar Jamali, Manzoor Qadir Kaka, and Khawaja Anwar Majeed have been transferred to different jurisdictions, signifying a significant shift in the handling of these cases. Notably, Hussain Lawai, the primary suspect in the fake accounts case, no longer falls under the purview of NAB jurisdiction. Additionally, the Park Lane reference against Asif Ali Zardari has been returned by the accountability court, following the implementation of NAB amendments.
In a similar vein, the NAB case against Abdul Ghani Majeed of the Omni Group has also been returned by the accountability court, reflecting the evolving landscape of these cases. In total, the NAB report reveals that 22 cases have been sent back from accountability courts within this year. Furthermore, an additional 25 cases have been redirected to alternative forums, adapting to the changing legal environment brought about by the NAB amendments.
In light of these developments, it becomes evident that the NAB amendments have had a profound impact on the legal proceedings and jurisdictions surrounding various high-profile cases, prompting a reconsideration of the paths these cases are taking within the legal system.
