In the wake of a recent surge in petroleum prices, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has taken measures to adjust the prices of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) for the month of September. This development, reported by ARY News on Friday, has significant implications for consumers and businesses alike.
The revised rates for LPG reflect an increase of Rs 38.97 per kilogram, resulting in the new price of a domestic LPG cylinder being set at Rs 459.85. OGRA has formally issued a notification regarding this price adjustment, which will remain in effect throughout the month of September.
It's noteworthy that during the preceding month of August, the fixed rate for an LPG cylinder stood at Rs 2,373.64. The sudden price hike in LPG for September has understandably raised concerns among households and businesses as they grapple with budgetary implications.
Prior to this, the caretaker government had also raised the price of petrol by a substantial Rs 14.9 per litre, as per a notification issued by the Finance Ministry. Consequently, the cost of petrol has escalated to Rs 305.36 per litre, marking a significant increase.
Simultaneously, the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) has surged by Rs 18.44 per litre, reaching a new rate of Rs 311.84. This upward trend in fuel prices has been a consistent concern for consumers, with petrol prices having seen a notable increase of Rs 17.50 per litre to Rs 290.45 on August 16. The price of high-speed diesel also reached Rs 293.40 during that time. It's worth mentioning that this escalation in fuel prices comes after the federal government had previously raised the price of petrol by Rs 19.95 per litre on August 1.
