NAWABSHAH: (APP) Three hundred seventy five unprocurable precious live turtles were seized and four accused arrested in a raid conducted by a team of Wild Life department.

The team on a tip of conducted raid near Jamrao Canal on a pick up carrying live turtles.
The Deputy Conservator Wild Life Dara Munir Qazi told newsmen that a gang involved in smuggling of turtles was unearthed in Karachi. He said that turtles of the precious species are present in large quantity in Nara Canal and Jamrao Canal near Jam Sahib town. He said that vigilance was mounted in the area on information of gang involved in smuggling of turtles.

He said that each turtle is worth of $ 875 in abroad. A gang of four persons was nabbed when they were carrying 375 live turtules, worth of 35 million rupees, he added.

He informed that the accused were identified as Baboo Zardari, Saddam Mallah and Ghulam Rasool Brohi. All the accused were shifted to the prison on the directives of the Court.
