LAHORE (APP): Lahore Police claimed on Sunday to have recovered 14 kidnapped/missing children during search operation in various parts of the metropolitan city during last four days.
Lahore CCPO Amin Wains told APP here Sunday that all the recovered children had been shifted to Edhi Home Gulberg.
The CCPO dispelled the impression of involvement of any organized gang in kidnapping of children, saying that police had found no similarity in 'modus operandi' of the missing or alleged kidnapping of the children.
Giving details, he said that a traffic warden spotted a 10-year-old Amjad with roped-up hands and feet near Shahdara Chowk. The Warden rescued the boy and handed him over to Shahdara Police.
In another similar case, Wains added, a traffic warden recovered Zeeshan (10), who was spotted weeping in chowk on The Lower Mall Road. The boy had gone missing from his house for the last few days.
He said that three children were recovered on July 30. Ali Jawad (16) had left his house in Shera Kot due to immense stress of failure in Matriculation examination. He was staying beside his friend in Nawan Kot. Shera Kot police traced him and handed him over to his parents. Another boy Talha (7) had gone missing in Factory Area. He was recovered near PEL Factory after few hours. Police handed him over to his family. While, 11 year Hamza Abbass had gone missing in Baghbanpura and was recovered after few hours in Janipura.
To a question, he said that police searched 47 hotels, 10 inns, 120 Commission Agent Shops in fruit and other markets, 6 madrashas, 9 factories, 12 workshops and recovered 14 children. The children have been sent to Edhi Home Gulberg.
It is to mention here that Additional IG Arif Nawaz and Lahore CCPO Amin Wains in their reply to suo motto of Supreme Court of Pakistan, stated that 765 children had gone missing in Punjab during current year, out of which, 715 children returned home at their own or recovered by the police. During the missing children fiasco in Punjab last month, they said, behavior of taking law into their own hands and getting register false cases to settle scores had also been reported.
Speaking on the issue, the DIG Operations Dr Haider Ashraf told APP that 90 percent of the missing children left their homes themselves due to admonishing by their parents.
