LAHORE: Inspector General of the Islamabad Police Tariq Masood Yasin has been removed and placed at the disposal of the Punjab government, while five senior Pakistan Administrative Services (PAS) officers were also transferred on Friday.
DIG Muhammad Khalid Khattak has been given the additional charge of IG for a period of three months.
On March 20, the provincial government requested the services of Yasin from the Establishment Division.
Sources attributed this to the fact that Yasin is likely to take over as Punjab IG when the post falls vacant on April 10.
Yasin said that he was happy to serve in the Punjab Police or anywhere else the government placed him.
Other officers in the running t become Punjab’s top cop include Lahore CCPO Captain (retd) Amin Wanis, Punjab Operations AIG Capt (retd) Arif Nawaz, Punjab Special Branch AIG Faisal Shahkar, and Punjab Highway Patrolling (PHP) AIG Amjad Saleemi.
