WASHINGTON: US President Barack Obama and his Chinese counterpart Xi JinPing agreed to deepen cooperation in various fields and to solve their issues peacefully.
Both the leaders held a meeting on the side lines of ongoing nuclear summit in Washington in which leaders from 50 countries participated.
Obama said “President Xi and I are both committed to the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula. We’re going to discuss how we can discourage actions like nuclear missile tests that escalate tensions and violate international obligations.”
Obama claimed that both countries are planning to solve conflicts including South China Sea.
Xi claimed that it’s US and China’s responsibility to work together for the betterment of the region.
Xi said “Our common interests are much bigger than our differences. Though cooperation, we can score many major accomplishments that will benefit both the two countries and the world at large.”
Earlier this day, US President also held talks with North Korea and Japan to take a mutual stance against North Korea’s growing nuclear pile in the region.
Obama said “We are united in our efforts to deter and defend against North Korean provocations, we have to work together to meet this challenge.”
