Pakistan and China inch closer further on bilateral defence front

China’s Minister of National Defense General Wei Fenghe called on PrimeMinister Imran Khan in Islamabad on Tuesday and discussed bilateralrelations.

Chinese Defense Minister Wei Fenghe was also conferred Nishan-e-ImtiazMilitary by President Dr. Arif Alvi in recognition of his services forfurther promoting and strengthen defense cooperation between Pakistan andChina.

A special investiture ceremony was held at the presidency in Islamabad onTuesday. It was attended by the federal ministers, the services chiefs andother senior ranking officials.

Earlier, General Wei Fenghe met Chief of army staff (COAS) general QamarJaved Bajwa. During the meeting, matters of mutual interest, regionalsecurity and enhanced bilateral defence collaboration were discussed.

General Qamar Javed Bajwa said that Pakistan Army greatly values ourtime-tested and brotherly relations with China. We have been standingtogether all along, and our relations will be no different in wake offuture challenges.

Visiting dignitary acknowledged and appreciated Pak Army’s sincere effortsfor the regional peace.

A Memorandum of Understating (MoU) was also signed for enhancement ofdefence cooperation between both the armies.
