Nawaz Sharif summoned to appear in person before Supreme Court

ISLAMABAD – Former PM Nawaz Sharif has been summoned by Supreme Court ofPakistan to appear in person before the Apex Court.

The Supreme Court (SC) has fixed suo motu case pertaining to the illegalconstruction of shops on the land of Pakpattan’s shrine in 1985 for hearing.

A three-member bench of the SC headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP)Mian Saqib Nisar would hear the case on December 4. However, the courtissues notice to former prime minister Nawaz Sharif to appear before it inperson.

The court has summoned the former premier on December 4 regarding the caseof the illegal construction on the land of Pakpattan’s shrine when he wasthe chief minister (CM) of Punjab.

However, the Auqaf Department and other respondents were also issuednotices in the case.
