Chairman Pakistan Bar Council, Hasan Raza Pasha, expressed the view thatthe Supreme Court should turn its attention to Lieutenant General FaizHamid (Retd) following Absar Alam’s claim that he had faced pressure fromhim during the 2017 Faizabad sit-in.
Pasha emphasized the importance of ensuring due process by summoning Hameedto court and hearing his side before making any judgments or issuingdirections, in accordance with the law.
Pasha also raised concerns about the prolonged delay in the Faizabad sit-incase, suggesting that it may have been intentionally overlooked.
He praised the current bench, led by Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi FaezIsa, as being well-informed about the case and urged the implementation ofthe verdict.
In a related development, former chief of the Pakistan Electronic MediaRegulatory Authority, Absar Alam, highlighted that he had exposed flaws inthe Pakistani system in his statement submitted to the Supreme Court inconnection with the Faizabad sit-in case.
