ISLAMABAD – Pakistan supreme court verdict on Aasia Bibi blasphemy case hasbeen lauded by the United Nations and the British Parliament.
The news of Supreme Court of Pakistan’s landmark judgement, whichoverturned the death sentence of Christian woman Aasiya Bibi in a blasphemycase, has made it to the British Parliament where it was welcomed bylawmakers, including by PM Theresa May.
Replying to the parliamentarians query, Prime Minister May said, “The newsout of Pakistan of the release of Aasiya Bibi will be welcomed by herfamily and all those who have campaigned in Pakistan and around the worldfor her release. Our long-term position on [the] death penalty is wellknown and we call for its abolition globally.”
