Pakistan’s shift towards economic diplomacy

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has emphasized on enhancing trade andexport volume of Pakistan with other countries to strengthen country’seconomic, which is vital for a robust foreign policy.

He was chairing the first virtual envoys meeting on economic diplomacy, inIslamabad on Thursday with participation of selected Missions.

During the meeting, participating Missions provided a bird-eye view oftheir activities in the economic and commercial domain for strengtheningexisting linkages and forging new ones within the ambit of EconomicDiplomacy.

During the interactive session, the Foreign Minister encouraged theMissions to cultivate partnerships to promote trade, attract investment andseek new markets for Pakistani exports.

He highlighted the strategic importance of Economic Diplomacy and stressedthe need to bring to fruition ongoing projects and partnerships.

In line with the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan, leveraging Pakistan’sdiplomatic relations to advance the country’s economic interests remains ahigh priority.

The Ministry has hosted in the past Envoys Conferences focusing exclusivelyon Economic Diplomacy.
